Who is the course for?

The purpose of the City & Guilds 6302 Award is to provide an introduction for those who wish to train or teach. It is a qualification which will equip a wide range of trainers, facilitators and teachers to support their learners. City & Guilds 6302 is a stepping stone award.
This qualification has replaced the City & Guilds 6302 Certificate in Delivering Learning.
The City & Guilds 6302 Award is suitable for those who work, or wish to work, as:

Teachers/Trainers/Tutors in the Lifelong Learning Sector and Adult/Community Education
Trainers of personnel in commerce, industry, private, public and voluntary sectors or HM Forces and Security Industries
Technicians and Support Staff in Further and Adult Education
Part time teachers in further and adult education
How long is the course?

City & Guilds 6302 is an intensive course with 30 hours of class contact time, comprising of a course induction followed by two workshops – three days on Week 1 and two days on Week 2. You will be expected to successfully complete two assignments prior to the course commencing, all of which prove your knowledge and understanding of the required criteria. As you work your way through the City & Guilds 6302 Award we will ensure your assignments are vocationally relevant to you and your place of work.
The primary objectives of the City & Guilds 6302 Course are:

Adopt an integrative approach to the theory and practice of teaching and training
Reflect on own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills, and potential for development.
Build up knowledge of principles of learning, teaching and assessment and evaluation.
Develop own communication and interpersonal skills.
Develop an awareness of own professional role, the essential value systems which underpin it and the legal requirements for carrying out this role.
The Units in the City & Guilds 6302 Course are:

Unit 1: Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role to other professionals
Unit 2: Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in lifelong learning
Unit 3: Plan and deliver an inclusive learning and teaching session and evaluate own delivery practice
Unit 4: Understand methods of assessment used in lifelong learning, involve learners in the assessment process and record keeping requirements

To achieve the qualification, learners must successfully complete both the theory and practical assignments covering all four sections.
