Hello,
I am a Student studying Mathematics at the University of Exeter, and am offering private maths tutoring to students of KS3 and GCSE level as part of my desire to become a Maths Teacher in the near future.
My approach is that of mathematical empathy, helping the student build up their knowledge and confidence of maths from its very foundations, relying less on memorisation of formulae and more upon logical reasoning, which I believe is a far more long-lasting approach to maths. This is done by attempting to insight an appreciation for maths, rather than focusing on the abstract facts that many syllabuses focus upon.
I have been tutoring for nearly three years, and have grown incredibly fond of both the practice of tutoring and the students that I have taken on. It is something I do for joy as much as a job.
Unfortunately, I can only travel to the main areas of Exeter, preferably within bus access from the city centre.
My available nights are mainly Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, though specific times and dates may be arranged, subject to my availability.
I have charged £13 an hour in the past, but am willing to compromise, depending upon location and availability.
