How To Make & Sell Your First Film: Sun 8th November

A "Film School" in a day! On writing, directing, producing, financing, shooting and selling your first short or low budget feature! Making your first film can be daunting. This intensive workshop takes you through the whole process from making to selling your first short or low-budget feature. Covers coming up with a hot concept, writing the script, producing, directing, raising the finance, finding cast, securing crew & locations, deciding on what kit to shoot on, directing actors, shooting the film, overseeing post-production, deciding a film festival strategy, selling your film and finally securing worldwide distribution! We’ve done it and now we’re going to tell you how. Full set of handouts provided. Come along, be inspired, then get out there and just do it!

Directing Actors for Film Masterclass: Sat 14th November

This is a special masterclass run by award winning Hollywood and top TV drama director Maurice Phillips. Knowing your shots and being on top of camera placement is one thing, but communicating with actors is key to the success of any film. Through a series of practical exercises and demonstrations, Maurice takes you through everything you need to know to get the most out of your cast. Under your direction, your cast can create memorable characters to help elevate your film to the next level.

Practical Film Directing – Shooting a Scene: Sun 15th November

Ever wanted to know what it feels like to direct a film? On this hands-on workshop, you learn all about shots, storyboards, where to place a camera, how to shoot a scene and how to direct actors. Everyone gets to direct a scene from a well known movie in a film studio with real working actors using professional digital film camera and lighting equipment. DVD of shot scenes provided. MAX of 8 PLACES. Run by the writer / director / producer team behind CREDO, an indie feature released by Hollywood Studio. The team have also made and sold shorts that have been broadcast in over 40 countries.

Practical Digital Film Camera & Lighting Technique:
Sat 21st November

An intensive hands-on workshop on the essentials of digital film camera and lighting techniques for shorts, documentaries and low-budget features. This workshop
is aimed at filmmakers who want to increase their camera operating skills and gain an understanding of basic lighting and cinematography principles. Covering setting up the camera, exposure, focus, white balance, zebra, time code etc on the camera side and then 3 point lighting, hard & soft lighting, the difference between tungsten & daylight plus lighting for mood and atmosphere. Run by an award-winning Director of Photography with credits on indie feature films, commercials, documentaries and short films. Certificate of attendance can be provided on request.
